About
Hi, I'm Emily!
I started SWM after completing the Wilderness Medicine Training Center's instructor training course in 2022. I took my first WFA course with WMTC in 2014 and never looked back; it fundamentally changed the way I go outside, and I'm thrilled to be teaching the best curriculum in the industry.
When I'm not teaching, you can find me in, on, or near Lake Superior.
Kudos for Superior Wilderness Medicine
"I found every part of the course to be very useful. I was excited to have the role of Incident Commander in the final scenario, because I will be going on trips where I am the most experienced person and having a practice round is invaluable." -A.B.
"Emily showed great understanding, willingness to work through materials and questions that people had (often repeatedly) and always showed up with great enthusiasm, which made WFR material more interesting to learn. She was kind, compassionate, and a positive person- I never felt stupid for asking questions and was always inspired to learn more." -V.M.
"The high point of my course was the camaraderie with my fellow WFRs. This especially shone through after each simulation, where Emily encouraged us to give feedback to each other." -T.K.
"Emily was extremely welcoming. She was able to keep things lighthearted without bypassing the seriousness of the situations we were placed in. I very much enjoyed her teaching strategies, professionalism, and friendliness." -P.O.
